MRS CLUCKS FREE RANGE EGGS

700 Grams OUT OF STOCK

What does free range really mean?

Official classifications require hens to have access to the outdoors for at least part of the day and a maximum density of 10,000 hens per hectare (that’s one hen per square metre).

High density, industrial free-range production, with large sheds denudes the land. This approach requires exhaust fans, manure conveyor belts, heating or cooling and extra water to clean and flush cages and pens as well as underfloor effluent systems.

The Mrs Clucks way

Mrs Clucks’ pasture raised, nomadic free range hens are raised in paddocks and have total freedom of movement. They express natural instincts like scratching, digging and dust bathing in their daily health routine. They enjoy an active, high protein diet of bugs, insects and seeds as they move around in planned rotation across paddocks.

Mrs Clucks hens have lots of room to move – our stocking densities are under 300 hens/hectare, which means that one hen has at least 30 square metres – check out our videos and see how happy and healthy they are!

Managed well, pasture farming systems such as ours are much kinder to the environment as the manure is treated as a valuable asset rather than waste. Hens are rotated over fresh soils and pastures daily, chicken manure enriches the soil rather than poisoning it. In essence it is a perpetual sustainable cycle and methodology as plants feed the animals and animals feed the plants.

Pasture production does not rely on the use of non-renewable resources to produce our eggs.

By choosing pasture eggs (or any other open range produce) you can be assured that your product has been grown with the least amount of human interference possible in a natural, low stress environment!
